Hard Rock Hotel Penang
Since 1971, the mission at Hard Rock has been to “do well by doing good” especially in the local community. The pursuit to TAKE TIME TO BE KIND® and to LOVE ALL SERVE ALL® has been part of the Hard Rock DNA since Day 1. We hope the local community finds as much inspiration in these simple words as we do.
At Hard Rock Hotel PENANG, we organise many philanthropic events and activities each year. Below are our annual Hard Rock CSR projects that we initiate locally to benefit Penang charities and non-profit organisations:
|ROCK TO ROCK RUN|
|Established in year 2010, our one of a kind charity fun run where you find a scenic route, have the liberty to dress up as your favourite rockstar, and party with live bands right after the run. The 3.8km fun run and 10.2km competitive run which starts and ends at Hard Rock Hotel Penang, is aimed at raising funds to benefit the selected homes of the poor and needy. This event has become one of Penang’s most popular organised runs each year, capped at 2000 runners sells out within 2 weeks. Fantastic prizes are on offer for many categories, including best dressed, awarded during a line up of live band performances.Hard Rock Hotel Penang has organized the annual philanthropic run for the 6th time this year. Each year, the hotel appoints one beneficiary to help raise funds for a cause. Seri Cahaya Welfare Home is the first beneficiary the hotel has adopted in 2010. Over the years, Hard Rock Hotel Penang has supported Crystal Family Home Penang and Association of Rehab of the disabled in 2011, Asia Community Service Stepping Stone Centre in 2012, SJK(C) Permatang Tinggi in 2013 and SJK(C) Yok Eng last year. Funds that were raised for Seri Cahaya Welfare Home in year 2010 were used to construct a kitchen at the home. Today, the home serves not only as residence for the homeless but a food center that contributes monthly supplies, food and other essentials. As such, Hard Rock Hotel Penang has decided to appoint Seri Cahaya Welfare Home as a beneficiary again to help supply food for the homeless and underprivileged families. The hotel has managed to raise RM50,000 to support the home.|
|IMAGINE THERE’S NO HUNGER|
|WhyHunger’s global Imagine There’s No Hunger campaign, with Hard Rock International and Yoko Ono Lennon, is challenging the charitable approach to childhood hunger by working with grassroots partners to ensure that children have access to nutritious food today and for the rest of their lives by supporting long-term, sustainable solutions, and ultimately a future free from hunger.”Can-Lah!” is Hard Rock Hotel Penang’s local initiative to battle food hunger. Each year, the hotel collects canned food from the community to feed the homeless and less fortunate. Beneficiaries include Rohingya Refugee Community supported by the Lifebridge Learning Centre and FOODBank4U.
In 2013, the hotel launched a Rockers’ Meal Program in support of Hard Rock International’s Imagine There’s No Hunger campaign. As part of this initiative, volunteers and special children from one of the local homes were invited to Hard Rock Hotel Penang for a feast and entertainment. The hotel has also provided meals and entertainment at PDK Teluk Bahang and Life Bridge Learning Centre.
In 2015, Hard Rock Hotel Penang joined hands together with FOODBank4U to distribute food for 140 underprivileged families. Approximately 150 band members of the hotel took part in the food distribution at FOODBank4U, Georgetown Distribution Centre.
Throughout the month of November & December 2015, the hotel encouraged guests to drop off non-perishable canned or packed food at the hotel to help feed the less fortunate. Hotel guests were seen dropping off their food donations at the hotel’s giant can labeled, “Dunk-A-Can” located in the lobby.

|June 14, 1971 is the day that the first Hard Rock Cafe started operating in London. It was the day that Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton, The Founders, brought their vision of American hamburgers to London – the day that rocked dining experiences forever after. Each year Hard Rocks around the world celebrate in many interesting ways. Hard Rock Hotel Penang, likewise, has lined up fascinating programs to mark this day.Hard Rock Hotel Penang also takes this opportunity to honour local heroes who have contributed to the community in Penang. Each year, the hotel invites a group of heroes to enjoy a feast the the Hard Rock Cafe in honour of their service in the community.
