Hard Rock Hotel Penang hosted the 4th Penang International Skimboarding Competition
Organized by the Penang Skimboarding Association with the collaboration of the State Government and Penang Sports Council, Hard Rock Hotel Penang was the official venue partner for this all-day competition, from 9am till 6pm. In addition to the competition, spectators learned more about this sport by participating in the skimboarding, paddleboard and windsurfing workshops.

This sport has been gaining popularity in Malaysia and this year we see the participation of skimboarders from more than 6 different countries. Pop Shuvit Rocks at Hard Rock Cafe
On 24 July 2010, local independent Rap-Rock band, Pop Shuvit performed a live showcase for a group of music lovers at the Hard Rock Café. Known for their adrenaline-packed live shows and eclectic blend of hip hop and rock, Pop Shuvit are being touted as Asia's leading Hip Hop and rock band with a notable fanbase in Malaysia, Japan, Thailand and Singapore.
During this live showcase, Pop Shuvit also donated a signed guitar to Hard Rock Hotel Penang which adds to Hard Rock International's collection of over 72,000 pieces of original memorabilia from rock stars around the world. |

Bringing Air Guitar to Malaysia
With the theme “Make Air, Not War”, Hard Rock Hotel Penang, the official Malaysia franchise holder for the World Air Guitar Championship brought this music art to Malaysia for the very first time. The finals of the Malaysia Air Guitar Championship held on 8 August 2010 at Hard Rock Cafe Penang saw 12 finalists competing to be the national champion.
Albert Chua aka L Bird, walked away with RM5000 cash and a free 3 Days/2 Nights stay in Hillview Deluxe Room in Hard Rock Hotel Penang. Carrying the title of Malaysia Air Guitar Champion, he/she will be representing Malaysia in the World Air Guitar Championship from 23 – 30 August 2010 in Oulu, Finland. The winning package includes return flights and accommodation for the world competition. |
